Occupation: Concept Artist and Imagineer
Mary Blair was largely responsible for the creating the striking, colorful look that defined many of Disney’s classic movies from the 1940’s and 1950’s. She was an important concept artist and background painter for many of the studio’s movies, including Saludos Amigos, Song of the South, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan, as well as many others.
She later became an Imagineer, during which she was a primary designer of It’s a Small World, and a mural she created is on display at Disney’s Contemporary Resort hotel in Walt Disney World.
She became a Disney Legend in 1991, and was even honored with a Google Doodle in 2011!
